Every day of our seven day "Learn Spanish in Ecuador Travelling Class" was filled with new experiences that were beyond my expectations. Travelling through central Ecuador with our excellent guide and Spanish "profesora", Tania, was both educational and great fun.

We started the round trip by going south from Quito to Baños, the little city with Bavarian influences, in the volcanic mountains that dominate all of central Ecuador. Here we spent time visiting the sites in and outside of Baños. There are amazing vistas and waterfalls to see and things to do. One of our group even took part in bungee jumping from a bridge!

From there we went to the jungle, or selva, for four days. The people there are so warm and helpful. They made us feel at home and safe while learning about life in the jungle. Our Misahualli guide took us down the Rio Napo in his barque, or big canoe. He brought with us inflated tire tubes so we could float down the river. I could not have imagined I would be walking through the Amazonian Jungle, learning about army ants, ants that taste like limes, eating cocoa from a tree in one moment, then floating down the rapids of a great tributary of the mighty Amazon in the next.

Along with other fabulous and interesting things to do and eat came a high quality of Spanish lessons. Our profesora is an expert in teaching Spanish and has an amazing capacity to teach language in great detail. We all stuck to speaking Spanish the whole time and made many terrible, funny, but memorable grammar errors while speaking.

For the two weeks that I spent with the school, including the one week Travelling Class, I would have to say that my Spanish has improved 10-fold. Thanks for the great time Ailola Quito! I had a great time and hope to be back soon!
